Longtharai Valley gets an early taste of Buisu spirit through a colourful celebration of culture and unity.


 Longtharai Valley | April 9, 2025: The air was filled with excitement, colours, and the rhythmic beat of traditional drums as the Pre-Buisu Festival unfolded with grandeur in Manughat. Held on April 9, the celebration brought together communities from across Longtharai Valley in a vibrant showcase of culture and togetherness. The event was jointly organised by Tripura Swrwngnai Buthu, Tripura Chubalai Buthu, and the Naran Pumang Roaja Council.


The program began with an inaugural ceremony led by Shri Burba Mohan Tripura, Deputy Naran of Tripura Dopha. A host of dignitaries graced the occasion, adding significance and warmth to the gathering.


The festival was honoured by the presence of Shri Paul Dangshu, Hon’ble MLA of 48-Karamchara Assembly Constituency, as the Chief Guest. Also present as Special Guests were:


  • Shri Sanjoy Das, Hon’ble MDC, Manu-Chailengta
  • Shri Hangsa Kumar Tripura, Hon’ble MDC, Chamanu-Manikpur
  • Shri Pranoy Debbarma, Hon’ble VAC Chairman, Manu RD Block
  • Shri Charu Kumar Tripura, Hon’ble Assistant General Secretary, Tripura Chubalai Buthu



A grand Cultural Rally set the tone for the celebrations, weaving through the streets with dancers, traditional attire, and joyful cheers. The stage came alive with captivating performances of traditional dances such as Kherebai, Tangbiti, Mamita, and the graceful Hojagiri, each reflecting the deep-rooted heritage of Tripura’s indigenous communities.


In a soulful addition, a Baul singer from the Bengali tradition enthralled the audience, beautifully blending cultural threads and reminding everyone of the shared spirit of harmony.


The Pre-Buisu Festival not only celebrated the approaching New Year but also served as a heartfelt tribute to the rich cultural fabric of Tripura. As the state readies for the main Buisu festivities, the celebration at Manughat stood as a powerful expression of pride, unity, and cultural resilience.
