Motha activists lock down Killa block office, demand VC election In the backdrop of upcoming by-elections in two assembly constituencies across the state, with a clear demand for village committee elections yet to be addressed, tippers have prompted Motha activists to take out bravery from Killa area.

These activities today locked the entrance of Killa Block, indicating their determination to raise not only their demand for village committee elections but also other important issues.

Initiating the deputation, Motha workers secured the block gate at noon and executed a symbolic lock. The move was aimed at drawing attention to the long-standing demand for village committee elections, a critical administrative issue.

Reacting to the incident, Additional District Magistrate Sumit Lodh, Sub-Divisional Magistrate Jayant Bhattacharya and Additional Sub-Divisional Magistrate Raju Dev were immediately summoned to Killa Block. A meeting was held within the confines of the Block Development Officer (BDO) office headed by BDO David Halam. 

TIPRA Motha activists expressed their concerns during the meeting, emphasizing the need to curb corruption within National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (NREGA) schemes and advocated for replacement of the current Killa Block Advisory Committee (BAC) chairman and change of ADC. Village convener. 

Symbolic protest Motha workers hanged lock for a considerable time, workers hung lock at the block gate for three hours continuously. After these determined protests, the administration promised to address the grievances raised by the activists. As a result, the protest was ended.

As the region gears up for the upcoming by-elections, demonstrations of grassroots activism through symbolic activities like the Killa Block Lockdown articulates the public's fervent call to address essential governance issues, including village committee elections, transparency and equitable representation.
