Mini Khajuraho

Vinayaka Rao Peshwa's palace is in Karvi of Chitrakoot. Ganesh Bagh has situated 4 km from here on the way to Sidhpur via the Sonepur-Collectorate road. The temple located here has sculptures on the lines of the architecture of Khajuraho of Madhya Pradesh on the inside and outside, hence it is called 'Mini Khajuraho'.

Sutikshan Ashram

This place is located 10 km away from Veer Singhpur in Satna, Madhya Pradesh. There is also an ashram of Agastya Rishi here. It is at a distance of about 40 kilometers from the Chitrakoot Ramghat pilgrimage site.

Tauranga Fort and Jharkhandi Mata Temple

Gupt Godavari

Gupt Godavari has located 18 km from Chitrakoot. According to legend, Lord Rama and Lakshmana stayed here for some time during their exile. Due to the narrow entrance gate, it cannot be easily entered. There is a small pond at the end of the cave, which is called the Godavari. Gupt Godavari has two caves, which are inside the mountain. Here the water level is knee-jerk. The big cave has two stone-carved thrones, believed to be related to Rama and Lakshmana.

Chitrakoot Darshan from Hanuman Dhara

This Hanuman temple is situated on a huge rock. After a steep climb, reach the temple. While climbing it, one can see the magnificent view of Chitrakoot below. There are small idols of Hanuman Ji for prayers all along the way. According to the legend, when Hanuman Ji returned after setting Lanka on fire, Lord Rama stayed inside the temple with Hanuman Ji.

Baan Ganga in Kolhua forest

This place is situated in Kolhua forest under Gram Panchayat Khambaria on the border of the Chitrakoot and Banda districts. It is believed that the Banda district area was the capital of King Virata during the Mahabharata period. The Pandavas kept their weapons in the unknown, they washed their weapons here with the stream of water emanating from Arjuna's arrow.

how and when to go

The nearest airports from Delhi to Chitrakoot are Khajuraho (Madhya Pradesh), Prayagraj in Uttar Pradesh, Varanasi, Kanpur, and Lucknow. At the same time, there is an interstate bus stand at Jankikund in Madhya Pradesh. There is Chitrakoot Dham Karvi on the Jhansi-Manikpur rail route and Manikpur railway junction on the Mumbai-Howrah route. Karvi is the nearest station, while Manikpur's distance is about 35 km from Tirth Kshetra.

There is a bus stand on Jhansi-Mirzapur Highway at Karvi Headquarters. There is also a good arrangement for staying here. You can stay here at a reasonable cost. The best season to visit here is from July to March.
