Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Deb resigned after visiting the governor on Saturday. His term is still one year away. Assembly elections in that state next year. Biplab Kumar Deb resigned before that. The BJP leadership in Tripura then sat in a hasty meeting. It was there that it was decided to make BJP's Tripura state president Manik Saha the next chief minister. Note that Manik Saha is now a Member of Rajya Sabha. Biplab Kumar Deb was the Chief Minister of that state for the last four years. On Saturday, he went to the governor and submitted his resignation. A few hours later, it was decided to appoint Manik Saha as the Chief Minister. Manik Saha himself is a dentist. In 2016, he left the Congress and joined the BJP. In 2020, he was made the BJP president of that state. He was elected from the only Rajya Sabha seat in Tripura in March this year. Earlier this year, he formed a new 16-member committee in the state. Many wanted to remove him from office. But he was given the big responsibility before next year's vote.
